T-Mobile for Business: 5G for $5

business case competition

The objective for the case “T-Mobile: Looking for Disruption in the SMB Wireless Market” is to double the T-Mobile for Business market share within a 5 years period.

The team proposes a vertical market that focuses on small business startups and businesses that have not been digitized. Up to 80% of the businesses in the niche are still using manual integration rather than utilizing the existing automated operating management app. While the demand to move to the automated framework exists; the concerns are the high costs of technology, unfamiliarity, and overcommitment of subscription.

5G for $5 aims to deliver the lowest-cost internet plan to power businesses. The internet should be readily accessible and reachable to everyone, anywhere, anytime. The first pillar of 5G for $5 is to make business smarter; by offering a subscription of bundles of point-of-sales and business management features—through a new business management app titled PINK—that can be mixed-and-matched to cater to respective business needs. The program is designed to be both simple and flexible—an introductory gateway for businesses to go online and experience the power of managing business using technology. In doing so, we propose a partnership with existing providers of POS application and management apps such as Clover and DialPad to enhance our value offerings. The second pillar is making telecommunications and networking faster than ever with the constantly updated 5G data services. Lastly, an onboarding service intended to reduce the learning curve and make the transition as smooth as possible—especially for undigitized businesses—is the final pillar.

A strategic business project that departs after analyzing the user pain points of the freight logistic services. Fulfilling the unserved needs of the MSME business and the unarticulated needs of value chain networking will steer Maersk from competing within to the blue ocean of creating value across.

Maersk needs to enhance its strategic group to better create synergies between all the upstream and downstream supply chain process. Instead of just handling arrival and departure of goods from port to port, Maersk needs to be able to integrate the network of suppliers, manufacturers, and distributors across the globe.

Our proposal is called Maersk Global Solutions. Apart from creating a pooled transportation space for SMBs; the solution would capitalize on the lack of knowledge, connection, and experience small business have in the market to scale globally. Maersk will offer consulting services by providing businesses a database of upstream suppliers.

For instance, a budding entrepreneur in France making shoe, Maersk can provide an array of leather manufacturers in China to supply the materials; further arranging the logistics from China to France. These information are especially valuable and necessary for small and medium businesses.

Simply Soulful Café

business consulting project

Simply Soulful Cafe is a Black and woman-owned restaurant that provides a variety of Southern Soul food. Currently located at 2909-B E Madison St, Simply Soulful Cafe is relocating to the main street of the 23rd Ave and Jackson St and renovating the old location into a prep kitchen and renting it out as a commissary kitchen. Simply Soulful Cafe has expressed struggles in internal management and is concerned that Simply Soulful Cafe lacks the knowledge and infrastructure to expand.

The student team’s recommendation for effective inventory management and employee communication revolves around four steps:

  • Leveraging the current POS system by implementing Clover apps such as Mission Control and Cojilio

  • Contacting an advisor for detailed financial documentations.

  • Working with distributor for a consistent ingredient delivery schedule.

  • Creating a seasonal menu while streamlining under-performing menu for easy coordination with the cafe's inventory supplies

The team is optimistic that implementing these recommendations will help Simply Soulful Cafe establish inventory management efficiency, communication excellence, and financial accountability following the relocation.

Economic Balancing in The Middle of Global Pandemic
(Penyeimbang Ekonomi di Tengah Pandemi)

op-ed article

Rationalizing the idea of "post-pandemic new normal" that sought to reconfigure the economic balance after months of global pandemic. An op-ed piece which counters the argument that economic recovery merely serves to advance the small interests of the wealthy.

Prolonging social restrictions without further action plans will continue to damage the economy. Thus, a move to reopen the economy is imperative to sustain society and the people.

Countering Allegations with Actions: The Hermès Style

chi-lok-tsang-2vkd36Fx1rI-unsplash.jpg

short essay

In 1837 at the heart of Paris, a leather craftsman named Thierry Hermès founded a company at Grands Boulevard. The shop first manufactured fine horse leather saddles and harnesses for the European noblemen. The supremely exclusive target market persists until today, with the brand transformation into the epitome of high-end fashion mode across the globe. Nevertheless, in recent years, the company has received backslashes regarding its supply-chain sustainability. The short essay argues on how Hermès' action plan for sustainable development goals has become its defense against the various unethical business practices allegations from environmental impact, animal abuse, and substandard labor conditions

House of Villains

research presentation

What makes a villain a villain? Why are they evil in the first place? The tendency to romanticize villains can be seen with rallies of support that bestow Joaquin Phoenix's Joker two Academy Awards in 2019. Anchored in the dark and twisted setting, Joker was seen as the victim of broken humanity, constantly being trampled by society's ignorance. The anarcho-syndicalism protest by the clown mass thus vindicated as a by-product of unjust power. Similarly, Josh Brolin's Thanos garners public affections in the Avengers: Endgame. Despite his genocidal scheme to wipe out half the population of the universe, many acknowledge the “Mad Titan” concerns on overpopulation—a centuries-old issue that humanity has yet to solve. His "radical solution" to address the Malthusian Trap, however horrifying, was seen by many as logical and reasonable. Such explanations to justify transgressions become significant, as it generates the problem of moral ambiguity, blurring the line between right and wrong (Polatis 2014).

On the Brink of Delusional Triumph

research paper

Analyzing the failure and inefficacy of U.S. Counterterrorism effort against the Islamic States from 2014-2020. As the current world order continues to weaken, the spread of ISIS becomes further unobstructed, creating a notion that we have only claimed a series of delusional triumphs. This paper contends that the failure of the current counter-terrorism attempt is due to three significant factors: failure to stop radical propaganda, failure to contain international conflicts, and failure to address religious exploitation.
